Like the coconut trees that dot the tropical landscape of the Philippines, Celebes Organic Corporation stands tall and
proud today. Its corporate odyssey began without much fanfare. From its modest start emerged one of the country’s
largest export-oriented enterprises, right at the onset of the New Millennium.
Mandanao Island remains a land of dazzling cultural splendor and agricultural promises. The island’s abundant
natural wealth provides the strong impetus to the Management Group of Celebes Organic Corporation to continually
expand its entrepreneurial endeavors. Celebes focused its vision and energy on becoming a truly diversified food
supplier to the local and global market.
Celebes is proud to support sound environment farming practices and to pursue the development of the organic
sector in the Philippines.
It started when the company's management team discussed on how they can help the farmers, cooperatives, and
businessmen who wants to be Organic Certified. The group has approached and was able to gather support from
local businessmen, politicians, and foreign companies of their willingness to support the project and even provide
financial assistance. This resulted in the formation of what is now called as "Celebes Organic Corporation".
One of the major obstacle of the Philippine organic sector as observed is that majority of the farmers, cooperatives,
business establishments, and processors, do not know much about Organic Agriculture, do not know how to have
their farms Certified, do not have the financial capacity to have it Certified, and do not know whom to approach if they
need more information about organic agriculture.
Instead, many of them are dependent on the big companies or even on foreign companies who just approach them
and offer to have them certified at their expense without realizing that they will be “controlled” by these companies.
Thus, our company was mainly organized to help them with these problems.
What We Can Do
To pursue the development of the organic sector, we have taken the initiative to do the following with its more than 26
staffs involved in Organic Agriculture:
- To provide interested parties FREE seminars and training and technical assistance related to sustainable organic
- agriculture system
- To provide FREE consultancy service to all interested parties towards establishment or conversion for handlers,
- producers, processors, and retailers.
- To provide FREE assistance in developing different types of Operating Manual and form for Organic Agriculture.
- This manuals would serve as your guide in the implementation of the Certification and Inspection Program.
- To conduct research, training, and other activities and engage in advocacy for the promotion of Organic Agriculture.
- To provide FREE training to would be consultants in the organic movement and send them abroad for training by an
- accredited international certifying body in order to have our own local organic inspectors and accredited certifiers in
- the Philippines in the near future who wil be internationally recognized.
- To raise awareness on Organic Agriculture and to attain operational self-sufficiency and sustainability.
Since the company started, it has given free Orientation, Training, and Seminars on Organic Agriculture in several
cities, towns, and municipalities with its 26 regularly employed organic staffs going around all over Mindanao Island.
To date, our staffs has given seminars and trainings to more than 3,000 farmers, NGOs, academe, and government
agencies. Interested parties may contact us to set a schedule for seminars, training, or consultation. We can assist
you in getting your farm and produce Certified and even market it.
